The Spell

Out of the Matrix?

Well folks…. It’s been a minute since I’ve done a blog post, but I’m excited to get back to the practice of writing and detailing my experiences in a platform that is truly mine, absent of algorithms. It’s been two weeks or more since I was last on social media. I’ve finally walked away from the chaos and the constant dysregulation of my nervous system.  Even though I’m no longer in the matrix, I continue to keep an eye on the political situation here in the US, global news, and other topics of interest using one or two news sources and staying active in my local community.

I’ve also taken the time to learn more things. I’ve been working terribly hard on completing my Herbal studies and I’m about 97% through on this truly intensive course provided by Rootcraft Herbalism. I’m still pursuing my Natal Astrology studies independently, my Yoga 200 HR class/certification, Business Plan class, and a few Death Doula classes before I jump into full certification, etc… and well yes, you guessed it, I’m trying to make the most of the time and keep busy to maintain my distance from what was so addictive to me for so many years… Social Media.

Recently, I finished a book titled “Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult times” written by Katherine May, as part of a book club by a most beloved author of occult topics. It was a good read and reminded me exactly what winter is for: a time to rest, relax, hibernate,…and die a little, if you will. And wait to be reborn in the Spring. With my exit from the digital social world, I have found not only much needed rest in solitude but a fervent need for learning. I finally feel like I’m doing what is important in my life. I have found that being present in my own life is much better than being a spectator… a guest in someone else’s life experience.

My intent is to use this time as much as I can to focus on my practices and to get back to basics. Sewing, break making, herbalism, pottery, etc. Reading has become one of my favorite pass-times and also PUZZLES! LOL. Another thing I’ve been trying to do is a little alchemy with herbs for teas. Trying to make the best combination of loose teas for when the mood strikes.

All in all so far it’s been a good experience. Some of my accounts are completely gone in a few platforms and some are inactive. I don’t plan to participate today, but I don’t want to say that I will never go back because sometimes I feel like closing the door completely tempts the devil more.

On a personal level, life is sweet. My discernment is sick and most of men’s game is weak! Ha! I am enjoying taking care of me and getting to know me better. There is someone in my life and he is special as fuck, and that is all there is to know. We did have a kick ass Lupercalia/Valentine’s day. Which was so very nice! The only invite I got to celebrate with someone, and I do believe it was the cosmos that brought us into alignment.

When it comes to art, I’ve been doing a lot of journaling whenever I can, and when I’m not working on classes. Exploring new mediums has always been fun for me, and this one I’m enjoying so much!! I do have a couple going at the same time (blame ADHD! Lol) with different themes because it also keeps things interesting.

I’m sure there are more things I wanted to discuss, but for now I do believe this is a good start. I do hope I can keep up with this practice and it’s a good way to leave my work behind. I will be going back and reminiscing a lot so I can add previous works I’ve done in the past. So that’s it! That’s all there is for now! Many things in the works as always, but I find myself more focused on actually following through than I ever have before! Hope you’ll join me on this journey and share things with me through it all!
